Dried Medicine in Chin's Fur

My chinchilla Buttons is taking liquid medicine. Despite using the burrito method, he likes to spit the medicine out and, of course, it ends up in his fur. I tried my best to wipe it off, but there were a few patches that dried and are now pretty stiff. He has since taken two dust baths, but the fur problem still remains.

Will the fur soften up on it's own or is there something else I can do for him?

You can use organic unscented baby wipes to clean the dried meds off and also use a fine toothed comb to try to comb it out.
