You seem convinced that your vet & the exotic specialist are right - I am not going to say whether I think they are or not because I am not a vet however if you look closely at his xrays you will see for yourself.

i was not convinced, which is why i asked you or anyone to take a look at it. i posted those photos back in may and no one made any comments regarding root elongation. which is why i have thought this whole time he was okay. and since he has not been grinding his teeth or drooling and started eating on his own, i thought he was okay.

he is going next month for a check up since he hasnt seen dr goode since august and hasnt had xrays in almost a year. i will have her do a close up.......which is what the "exotic specialist" was supposed to do. which is why i said she was probably blowing smoke and made the comments she made......clearly she wasnt such a specialist.

thank you for enlarging the image, i dont know how you did that. i am going to try and copy it for my vet.

I used Photoshop, I can email you a larger size if it would be helpful. PM me with your email if you'd like a copy.

Better a minute too soon than a second too late! It is killing me to see so many people putting their chinchillas through so much pain...why is it so hard to let them go nowadays?

Because when you have never made the decision before, and you take the standard questions- does he still enjoy his life- then it is so hard. Chilli still begs for his dust bath. He is in there, waiting and ready when I come in with his CC, He stops eating when he is full, he in fact grabs the syringe and holds it and grunts and squeaks if the food is not coming fast enough. He runs and wall surfs during playtime. He chews his half a shreddie with determination and will spit at Pepper if he tries to take it. So how is it easy to look at him and see all that spunk and not feel like I am killing him. When he starts refusing things, then I know it is time, but right now, he is happy and perky.
That is why it is so hard.
