I have two chinchillas. When I got them, I was told they were both boys. I've had them for almost a year and recently found out that one is a female. I noticed that there's blood in the cage. Streaks I guess? I checked both of the chinchillas, and everything on them looks fine. What else could the blood be from?

Not sure, but females do lose their plug and sometimes it could leave a little stain. Plus, do you now how a breeding pair?

Females do not bleed from their vaginas unless in labor or shortly after labor. Their heat can produce a clearish discharge, but nothing bloody.

Check the feet of both your chinchillas. If they are dry and cracked you will need to put either bag balm (green tin, can be found at walmart) or use a little vitamin E oil on their feet. Typically in the winter, when you notice blood streaks it's because of dry cracked feet.
