I was looking through petco's website, trying to find some different things for my 3 chins. I was wondering if anyone has experience with any of these and if they're safe or not.

I know they're probably not worth the prices, but as a "treat" kind of thing every once in awhile, I don't mind spending the money.

So I just want opinions and to know if they're safe or not.

I would say no to the corn husk things, chins shouldn't have corn at all. The wood chews are probably fine, but you could probably get a better deal buying from one of the vendors in the classifieds here.

On the first link, no. Don't give your chinchilla corn husks.

On the second, those appear to be safe but didn't get very good reviews. I would be more inclined to buy wood from a vendor here. Keep in mind that some chinchillas do not like certain woods and it's really a matter of figuring out what they like and don't like.

Like the others have said, stay away from the corn, but the coins may be ok. I've seen fir on safe and unsafe lists so I just stay away from it. Personally, I don't buy wood (or much else) from petstores. While the wood may be chin-safe, I don't know if the tree was ever sprayed with chemicals, and I don't trust the pet store companies to know that's bad with all the crap they have on the market that isnt safe. Every time I look through pet stores website, I end up in the classified pages or a vendor site or trying to find a way to do something cool in a better, safer way. I will admit I'm biased though- I'm one of the vendors on here and I've got plenty of untreated/unsprayed wood I can do stuff with. :)
I don't know which vendor has what, but out of those three (grapevine, fir and manzanita) I have grapevine available http://chins-n-hedgies.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44700&page=3
I think Rhonda may have manzanita http://chins-n-hedgies.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23583&highlight=rhonda or http://www.rondaschins.com/

I also don't purchase anything from petstores "targeted" to chinchillas, except for emergency needs of hay, pellets or dust. I like to buy bulk toy parts from vendors online and create my own hanging toys. It's very cheap. I've found chinchillacity.com to be a great source. There are many others out there.

Neither of those products are safe.

The first one, because it's corn, corn is bad enough on it's own but can also carry toxic mold's that can be hidden by the bright dyes used.

The second, while grape wood and manzanita are safe fir is not (because it contains toxic pitch) and you can't guarantee which pieces are which to remove the toxic ones.

Definitely buy from a vendor who preps wood specifically for chinchillas.
