I'm really not trying to "fight" with you about this whole transmission of diseases thing, but your attitude about it is really kind of off for someone who is going into the healthcare profession. First of all, if you follow universal precautions, your chance of getting a disease is extremely low. Otherwise, we wouldn't have anyone out there who could risk being a healthcare provider!! Secondly, you can get HIV from a baby just as you would an adult--the risk is low, but it is there. You WILL be dealing with all sorts of bodily fluids--and besides, to get your training as a neonatal nurse you will have to go through lots of different experiences, including work with adults.

I'm just saying (like everyone else!) that you really need to do your research and think about if this is right for you--it sounds like some of your ideas around being a nurse or EMT are based more in opinion than fact.
