Didn't really know where to put this, but I'd just like to share a little story working at a veterinary hospital. Well I worked at that vets hospital for about a good two years or so and I have to say it REALLY got on my nerves when the vet techs would insist on me putting my chins in water to bathe them! :hair: Even the actual doctor said "Awww you should bathe them and get them really clean" I told them and even showed them articles and this forum on how chins do NOT need water baths except under special circumstances. They continued to treat me like a dumb little girl and suggested feeding fruit and veggies.... I threw everything they said about chins out the window because it was all wrong information! lucky for me I had done tons of research and didn't fall for the fact that he was a vet and knew "everything" about pets :rolleyes2: Some vets just think they know everything and treat employees and even clients like they know absolutely nothing.

This happens a lot. A very good example of researching and listening to all kinds of people and then basically using your own common sense when making decisions.

I was told when I got my first chin that they would die if they got wet. Okay - so what do they do in the wild??? Some of my chins got water baths if needed and they didn't die. If I find a baby who is wet and cold and will die if nothing is done I usually get it into a sink of rather warm water and the majority of the kits survive. So there is an exception to every case.

Vets don't and can't know every animal. Just isn't feasable. That's why they are specialists in certain areas. Just like we like certain animals and research those - the vets are the same way. It's their opinion that they know everything and can't be told anything new that bugs me. I've had chins to 2 of the local vets. One never let on that he didn't know much about chins - the other one asked me questions and even borrowed books so that he could learn more. He's the one I go to now.

Thanks for reminding us to use our brains when we read and hear info.
