Hey everyone, glad to see CNH has come to replace CNQ, i cried myself to sleep when it disappeared thinking it was gone for good...

I've had my chinnies for a while now, still love them to death and they're my babies....but lately I've noticed I'm getting really allergic to hay. At first it was just alittle eye itching, alittle sneezing but that was about it...its now developing to where sometimes I get a bump on my hand from touching the hair, I sneeze for extended hours after, my throat feels swelled up and feels really itch and my nose is clogged....at first when this started I thought I was sick instead, and I was too for a little bit, but now that's past and I'm still reacting pretty bad...
What should I do? Gloves/face mask to be in the chin room?

There's no way I'm going to stop having chins, so what do you guys think is a good solution?

im glad your not gonna give them up. ask your dr to maybe he can give u some meds to make the symptoms not so strong

Have you given thought to trying the compressed hay cubes? This might help. Also maybe wear one of those face masks. I sneeze too when handing the regular hay. Hope you find a solution!

I've had chinchillas for over 4 years and my allergies have gotten worse over the years where nothing over the counter is working anymore. I am also allergic to hay, grass, trees, ragweed, ugh, etc...but I have a great allergist, who has me on singulair and symbicort of which in the beginning I had to use every day and now I only use it as needed, which is probably 2 times a week. Just recently I also have begun allergy shot therapy to hopefully help with my allergies to subside.

I agree with everyone else said, but also wanted to add what about one of those air purifiers. Personally, I don't know if they work, but it's a though, just make sure the cord is hidden so they don't chew it.
