Afro Violet vs Violet?

Is there a difference, and if so, what is it?

I think they are both the same but I can be wrong.

There are 2 lines of violets. Afro or african violet and the german violet. German violets are much more of a purple hue. I don't have any pictures but I'm sure you can search and find some. Most people just list violet as a violet cause german lines are very rare in the US.

Sorry, going to have to disagree with you there. Side by side, under show/daylight lighting, Deutsch violets are a much more gunmetal grey than a powder blue Afro/Sullivan violet.

It is hard to capture the colour accurately in photos though.

I was going by what I was told. I've never actually seen one since they are so uncommon..
