Blood results came back sugar was high, everything else was fine. The vet was doing research to find out about diabeties (sp?) in chinchillas but couldn't find anything.

Manipulation of a chinchilla can lead to an increase of the glucose level in the blood, its triggered by the release of adrenaline. Diabetes cannot be diagnosed by one simple blood test, a series of blood and urine tests must be done over a period of time to confirm the disease. Stasis, endocrine disorders, liver and kidney disease, can raise sugar levels, so a specific blood chemistry done several times will diagnose diabetes and what type.
