    Loud breathing

She went into the vet yesterday. Of course she wouldn't do it then. She only seems to do it at night which is weird. The vet said her heart sounds ok and so do her lungs. She thinks she may be in pain from her feet saying that one is indeed infected. Thinking the antibiotics weren't done long...

    Loud breathing

Each time I pick up my old 16-17 year old girl she starts breathing loudly. I don't hear her doing it after she starts resting again but she does it when active too. So two nights now during play time she starts this. She does it when I pick her up to medicate her as well. She gets 1.5mg/ml of...

    Bone Spur

The warm water won't make her over heat?

    Bone Spur

How would I do the soaks and how would I administer the oregano oil? I can do either. I have a stupidly large collection of doterra essential oils. I just wouldn't know what temp to do the water at, or even how to apply the oil..maybe with a q-tip.

    Bone Spur

My chinchilla has been fighting bumblefoot for years. I got her when she was 7 so as far as I know she hasn't been on any wiring. Her feet just keep cracking and getting infected. I have no clue what to do. I've tried CEH cream, Soother plus, another type of topical, and bag balm. Shes been to...

Dealing with the Loss of half a Bonded Pair

That's awful; I'm so sorry to hear that. When my girl lost her sister she took it very hard. She barely ate or drank and didn't want anyone to touch her. She did eventually spring back and has been doing fantastic ever since. My condolences. Losing a loved one is the hardest and worst pain there...

The vet and I are stumped

I was told I worry too much and she's old D: He's a nice guy :) Thank you for the recommendation! So, she's going to go on Reglan for a few days, and she's got a new foot cream. Poor baby, my skin is drying out and cracking too. I called a bit after they opened and the only opening they had...

The vet and I are stumped

So..the plan is to make a vet appointment in a couple hours. I woke up worrying and couldn't sleep. She keeps going through these fazes while she's out playing where her droppings are 100% normal and then she goes back in the cage and a couple hours later they are small again. So, it's been...

The vet and I are stumped

I was told she does have a slight heart murmer, but I was also told that it hadn't gotten any worse. She is not drinking as much the past few days, but it's really cooled down in the room with the window fan up at night. I'll check again to see how she's urinating. Her first droppings when...

The vet and I are stumped

Thank you, both of you. I lost a chinchilla to pyo so I'm always very careful about that. It was the first thing I considered as being wrong. I pushed on her tummy and nothing came out. She appears open to me. Also, her teeth have been checked both times and everything checked out good there...

The vet and I are stumped

My chinchilla has quite a bit of fur matting on her hips. She seems to have stopped grooming herself quite a while back. She's been constipated these last few weeks. Her droppings are really small, and because the vet appointment was a couple weeks ago I haven't weighed her since. It feels...

    Increased drinking and urination

She got better when I turned the A/C down more. My body doesn't process sugar right since I get hypoglycemia attacks, but I'm told I don't have diabetes. I don't get the difference. Forgive me. But, oh well she's better that's all that matters.

    Air Freshener = Deadly?

She smokes inside the house with animals inside? . . . I'm staying out of this discussion since that irks me (and ruins everything in the house) and I will end up not saying nice things. I wish you much luck and for your chins to live long healthy lives. I'm sorry you're stressed out by this...

    Increased drinking and urination

First off, let me say that I have a vet appointment for Tuesday afternoon. My vet isn't in on Mondays..and of course Sundays. I couldn't get an appointment on last notice today. Alright, time to explain. I'm not sure if it was a month ago now, but I posted on here about my chinchilla being sick...

    Air Freshener = Deadly?

I've heard that air fresheners can kill small animals. I keep anything that can release anything into the air the heck away from my chinchillas. I'm sure it would take an excessive amount, and a predisposition for it to kill one...but why chance it? Plus, I have a hamster in the same room as...

    Not pooping much

She's decided today that water is for chumps. So, I gave her more CC to get more liquid in her.

    Not pooping much

She's doing fine now. She's eating a bunch and they look perfect and she's going her normal amounts now. She isn't drinking much water right atm. I should probably keep her vet appointment anyway. Course..it's not my money, so if it's a waste then it's a waste. My hamster is eating again today...

    Not pooping much

It won't let me edit my last post so I guess I need a new one. I just came home to a whole bunch in her cage. Only problem...they aren't as dark colored as normal. Not light light brown but lighter. I should probably add that they aren't small. Just lighter in color I'm going to go check her...

    Not pooping much

Hmm okay. I guess if that's not bad then that's fine. I don't take her out during morning or daytime so I didn't know that. I'm used to like 2 a minute. The vet called back there was a cancellation and she goes in tomorrow at 5:30 so that's good. If she's fine I'll feel bad for torturing her...
