my sister left a stuff animal on my chinchillas cage and overnight, he bit part of the felt off, he didn't eat any of the stuffing inside. this morning, i found some of the felt and he is eating and drinking fine. his urination patterns and poo all look fine too. should i bring him to the vet?

I just finished using my bag of shavings and have bought my chinchilla a new bag of Great Choice Aspen Wood Shavings, however, he seems to be pigging out (eating) it a lot, are there any risks or is it perfectly normal?

i agree with the posts above, it's super rare because their fur is so thick that even fleas will sufficate, however, i wouldn't be too worried, chinchilla problems are mostly their teeth or fungus

you can purchase a metal pan from www.bassequipment.com, they have some fir for critter/ferret nations

i use the glass/stainless steel living world and so far has had no problem with it

My cage is in the basement where the washer and dryer is. during the wash cycle, i cover the cage with a thin blanket and close the closet doors to the machines to minimize the smell and noise. while that can be prevented, the smell still lingers, sometimes because we hang are clothes there...

because their fur is so dense, water kind of stays there, it takes a long time to dry, so the water feeds fungus growth basically

my new chinchilla i got today is very energetic, he loves to climb around and play with his toys, however he might be " a bit too energetic," i opened the cage door to adjust his water bottle and he escaped out, whenever i even go close to his cage, he climbs towards the door. i spent over half...

it depends on what type of rabbit food, there are a lot of posts on this site discussing rabbit food. I would just gradually switch back to chinchilla food to be on the safe side, you don't know what brand the previous owner's been feeding him. :) goodluck!

has anyone ever tried the plastic flying saucer http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3155602. I will replace it with the "real metal one" once i have the time to go down to portland. my chinchilla is not a big chewer and i've read that even when they do bite it, the hard plastic...
