    Hydrometra

I have a 7-year-old female and she suffers from hydrometra. When it happens, her uterus is filled with clear, non-infected fluid which takes a couple of days to come out. It's little bit painful and of course she finds wet fur very, very upsetting. She can't sleep but runs and hops around in her...

Thank you guys! :) I'll scratch her ears on your behalf.

    Pumice?

^ That's a nice surprise! I've thought that this is an all Scandinavian phenomenon - it's good to know about practices in Central Europe as well. Thanks for sharing! :) Aluminium is essential in aerated concrete manufacturing process and if it's not thoroughly powdered, there may be shavings...

    Pumice?

It has never crossed my mind to flavour chin toys. I might try it too if I could get Kool Aid from someplace (it's not available in here - except for some American food stores). I have collected some pumice from Santorini, Greece. The island is covered with it: Nana carried her piece on the...

    Nana's 10th birthday jumping pic

We celebrated Nana's 10th birthday last month. What a show she made: As you can see, she loves the fireplace's rough stones and gets her fur all messy while brushing against them.

    Cage Pictures

Thanks for comments! It's originally a parrot cage as kimbt622 suspected, and very suitable for chins with only minor changes. I spotted it in a web auction some years ago. The brand is Montana Cage, they sell them worldwide, I think. :))

    Cage Pictures

Some new decoration. :)) Here's Nana entering to check out the result: A close-up with sleepy Ode: The branches are mostly from apple trees but there's some small willow and aspen trunks, too. The bridge is made of birch, the shelf and the house of sanded pine.

What is the best hay holder?

In IKEA they sell various cutlery holders that are very suitable hay racks! Our ladies have this one in their cage: The bottom is almost solid so the hay won't fall out. :))

That's right - washing with a brush and hot water is perfect. Drying time depends on size of a branch but it'll be more like months than weeks. A good way to fasten the drying process is to place the branches on highest sauna seat while the stove is heating. ;))

    Cage Pictures

Thank you for your nice comments! Actually, I've been asked a lot where I do get the branches. I haven't bought any of them - that would be unnecessary since almost 80 percent of Finland's surface area is dense forest. :)) So, these branches are mostly collected from forests, without harming any...

    Cleaning cage pans?

I wash the pan - in the bathroom - in every two weeks. It's not very easy since the pan is quite large, but at least there's only one to clean. :)) Between thorough cleanings I use a little shovel to take out some peed bedding etc. For cleaning I use absolutely non-toxic products. Well, it's an...

    Cage Pictures

Newly decorated home and the "yard": (Sorry for the large images but smaller ones just wouldn't be any use!) A branch mess like this probably isn't the most aesthetic solution - but the girls seem to be very pleased and that's all that really matters! :)) There's more to come: I'll make...

    Most awful pics

What a wonderful breeding female with a magnificent fur! :)) (She pulled herself between a plastic box and a wall which made her quite electrified!) Rather falling than jumping gracefully:

a travel cage Here's our self-made version of a chin travel cage. It's not too spacy but comfortable enough - the creatures are not to spend but a couple of days in at the time, anyhow. It's as simple as a wooden frame with some net attached to it. It's put together with hinges and latches to...

how to get a chinny back in his cage?

Our girls head to the cage when I tell them to. No, they won't do it obediently and immediatelly as a dog would do - they'll roam, run and hide just a little longer, and I need to act like I would "chase" them a little, but within a minute both of them are in their cage. Good girls! And of...

What song matches your chinchillas personality?

The line "Nana Nana Nana, I wanna start a fight" from 'So What' by Pink describes Odelma VERY well! :D Her bad temper is well known (eventhough she loves her own people very much) and sometimes tries to start a fight with Nana (unsuccesfully).

    My new shirt!

I got my new ChinRevolution shirt today: Can you see what's funny about it? The chin is really Nana, our standard female, but in the original picture she was sitting in a way you couldn't see her tail. So I took the tail from Odelma, who is white! So, the tail don't really match for a standard...

    It's Nana's birthday :)

Nana is seven years today! To be honest, I don't know the exact day, just year and month, since I know only some details of her origin. Though she's such a clown with all her jumping and funny actions it's very suitable to celebrate her on April's Fools day! No, she didn't really...
