    Trouble in Paradise

Great, thank you for the reassurance. She now seems to have calmed down a bit, so I will keep an eye on them. However, he and DaddyPuff get along very well in the play pen, so I will put them together next week if not sooner.

    Trouble in Paradise

So Pringle is doing very well, healthy and eating a lot. He is seven weeks old today. But over the last week, I have heard him crying out as if he is upset and then found him cowering in the bottom corner of the cage. I'll try to coax him out, but he definitely seems frightened. The female has...

Baby Kit Eating Solid Food Early

Oh man, tell me about it! He is ALL over the place. Even after I take him out for a few minutes, he still jumps in the exercise wheel and goes to town. This little guy is eating everything! But thankfully, I still see him nursing as well.

Add Three More Chins from California

Oh, I see, thanks for the explanation, Stackie. I do know the person my brother got them from, so I will ask her some more questions.

    Chinchilla Toys

Amethyst, thank you so much for all the great suggestions. I have already given them many of those things, but I think I will also make Fez a cuddle buddy. His cage is lined with fleece, so I know he doesn't eat it. He does like the bell while Mochi (female) prefers the exercise wheel in the cage.

thought it was about time i joined here!

Hi there! I'm new to the board as well and was thrown into the whole chinchilla birth thing, so I would love your input. I rescued a PW female and standard male in February and she gave birth to a very healthy little kit last month. I have been told not to breed them again, can you please...

Add Three More Chins from California

Lol! Obviously they will continue to breed if I put them back together. Why should I not breed them? Is there a risk to the kits because of their types?

Add Three More Chins from California

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I guess I thought she was albino because she has pink eyes. What color should she be classified as when she is all white with pink ears and pink eyes? I don't know what PW means...I joined this board in an effort to learn the best way to take care of them...

    Chinchilla Toys

I read lots about providing my chinchillas with lots of toys, and I think my male is a bit bored since he has been separated from the female. By "toys" do you mean things they can chew on? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Add Three More Chins from California

Hello Everyone! I recently acquires a mating pair of chins, one female albino and a male standard. I've been told that Mochi, the female is around 2 years old and the male, Fez (Dr Who fans) is around 4 years old. They surprised us with a kit on May 19th that I believe is male. We named him...

    New Chin Mom!

Chim Chim is so very cute! Kind of like cats, they need a few days to adjust to their new surroundings. It sounds like you have very good instincts. My female will bark at me when she is grumpy or feels like I'm invading her space. I'm sure once he's settled, you two will be the best of pals.

Baby Kit Eating Solid Food Early

I was sort of thrown into this whole chinchilla breeding thing, but I am trying my best to muddle through. My brother was given a male/female pair and he told me that they may be having kits. I told him we would take a pair of the kits if that happened. Instead, he offered me the existing pair...
