Chins making their boards/ledges a mess

Hi everyone in Chinland! How are you all today? :) My two seven month old chins are HORRIBLE about pooping on their wooden boards/ledges and then galloping through it, spreading it everywhere. My four older chinchillas will occasionally do this... but hardly to the extent the younger two do...

    Silly chin sitting position

This isn't so much a "I am concerned about this behavior" post as it is a "my chinchilla is being quirky" post. My oldest chin, Chico, has developed an interesting way of sitting in his fleece tube. I guess it has to do with his combustible ribcage or something because I'll find him sitting in...

    Best hay racks?

Hello everyone! I was just curious to know what hay racks y'all use and how well they keep things tidy. Yes, I know chins manage to get hay everywhere (mine do anyway) and it's a bit of a pain to pick it off of the fleece liners when I need to wash them. Tips on that? Suggestions for hay...

    The Ferret Nation Club

Officially part of the FN Club!!! Still a work in progress. Have removed the peace sign fleece cover from the right hand cage and put up more perches and toys in the tops since this pic was taken. Also I HAVE to share these houses from Twilight Chinchillas! They are too cute!

Strange eating behavior and a question about eyes...

Hi! I can't believe it's been a month and I haven't been on here. >< Velvet's teeth are fine (I guess he's just my messy eater). The vet suspected he had an upper respiratory infection or allergies; he was put on some meds for 10 days and is now doing better than ever as he has perked up quite...

    Timothy hay cubes

Hi all, Due to recent allergies, I have been advised to use hay cubes more than loose hay (among other things). Where is a good place to buy Timothy Hay cubes in bulk on the 'net? My chins like 2nd cut Timothy Hay and I am not finding it in cube form. Thanks, Jenn

Allergic to my chins after seven years?!??!

Thank you for the suggestions, Becky!! I am going to try the dust bath IN the bath so to speak (hehe). Luckily for me the chins have their own room across the house from my bedroom so it isn't like I am miserable with allergies 24/7, mainly just in the chin room. I aired it out yesterday and...

Allergic to my chins after seven years?!??!

Hi all, I'm very concerned. I've had chinchillas for the past seven years and have not had an allergy problem. Recently I have been getting itchy and red after holding my chins. No sneezing or runny eyes... yet. However I know that sometimes allergies can actually take YEARS to build up. This...

Strange eating behavior and a question about eyes...

Hi all, Out of six chinchillas, one has always been... strange with his pellet food. I say "strange" because I cannot think of a better word. He's an adult male that I bought at Petsmart back in 2009ish. Ever since I got him, he's pulled shenanigans with his food pellets. He is just *messy*...

Feeders and hay racks for FN

Hi all, I've started using fleece liners in my Ferret Nations, and the chins are learning to be potty trained (yay!). However I need a hay rack/holder and/or feeder for them all because they are dragging their hay all over the place; I've been using glass bowls for the hay while I was getting...
