Kathiva, why did you choose to breed chins in the first place? It seems like it may have been a better idea to start out small and keep one or two as pets for a few years to get a feel for chinchilla care. I don't think its possible for any person to gain the know-how to care for 50+ chinchillas...

So I had a terrible night sleep, so the first thing I did was go down and check on my critters, and I see the worst possible thing- JACK was missing! The cage door was all the way open. Thankfully, all the bathroom doors were CLOSED. Unfortunately, the other equally terrible room in the house...

Normally my two guys consume water at about the same rate (they're seperated, don't share a waterbottle). However, last night I noticed one was chugging away (I don't catch them drinking that often) and thought nothing of it. Then, I saw today's water level, and yeah, he's consumed around 2oz...
