    Bonded Pair Passing- Cage alterations??

To break down our situation: I've had a previously bonded pair for 6.5yrs and back in July I lost one of my boys about 2 weeks before I had to move. Things have settled now and my remaining boy, Riku was never really the affectionate type, but I've been monitoring him for any serious changes or...

    Thank you CnH- Chinniversary

Isn't it completely fantastic! It's a bit overlarge in it's current state, but 100% cotton so a good wash ought to do. I've done laundry since, but been far too excited and wearing it a great deal instead of washing it.

    Thank you CnH- Chinniversary

Yesteray was my first china-versary with Toki and Riku! We celebrated with new toys, extra playtime, and I'm in the process of tiling the cage, which I'm looking forward to a great deal. I just wanted to say how glad I am to have this site and though I'm not always as active in the forums...

    Attaching tunnel to cage

I'd drill some holes in the wood and then the majority of my toys are attached via wood screws with washers and wingnuts so I'd probably do that. I've been staring at the fiddle sticks too, but I haven't managed to order the large ones yet. Pics when you get them up!

    Temperature and humidity

You know, I haven't seen a max humidity level either. I do know that 75 is too warm. An ideal temp should be somewhere between 50-69. I know I've heard people talk about fresh air not being recommended but I never caught why.

My chin gave birth, and I caught it on video!

Thank you so much for the video. I don't have any advice to offer, but I'm glad I wasn't crazy in thinking she was making a lot of noise. This was very educational for me as someday in the far future I'd like to take in rescues and one is bound to be pregnant. Now I'll know if she makes these...

Need to buy an A/C unit.

I found mine on CL for $60. ^.^ It works pretty well although sometimes the switch on the drip pan doesn't reactivate and you have to put the pan back in a few times to get it to register and I wish it had an autostart. But I don't really know too much about AC units so I don't have much to...

    Where/How do you store...

I have all extra toy supplies and fleece in a large flat rate box under the FN as well as, food, bedding, dustpan, "emergency kit", and dust containers. I have extra shelves, tubes, and liners on top of of the cage and I have the amazing hay bags Menagerie sold beside the cage. I don't have too...

    Still Somewhat Unsure...

Everyone's already mentioned a ton of useful information, but as far as cost, I think there are a couple things left out. Granted, this really depends on where you are, but I'm on a coast and needed an ac unit to keep the room cool enough. We also ended up needing an air purifier to keep dust...

has anyone considered something like this for chins?

I just got a jigsaw and sander and this is absolutely on my list as soon as we move next! Did you see the size of some of the cat towers? They take up half a room! I can see me building it all now! bwhahahahahaha

    i love hay time:)

Mine think hay is the best treat in the whole world, too! As soon as it goes in they go straight for it. I have like 3 hay holders in their cage because it's the only thing they consistently chew and I can't always get them interested in wood. ^.^ Hay time is play time!

    My Chin Bites ...

I agree with everything said thus far. Those teeth are sharp and if he's not breaking the skin then that's just normal chinny behavior. If he is breaking the skin, leave him be for a bit and start slowly.

    need new vacuum

I went ahead and snatched up a shop vac. I got the portable 4gal because it had better suction than the 6gal. ^.^ Thanks for the advice!

I've only had the chance to foster one baby coon and it was an experience I'll never forget. Adorable!
