    Mildly Infuriating Vet Visit

I'm just glad that unless he has any problems, an annual check-up is all he needs. I definitely won't be going back to that guy.

    Mildly Infuriating Vet Visit

Well, I thought that I should take Digby to the vet before we moved for a general check-up to make sure that everything was shipshape. I found a clinic that sees exotic animals, Pet Care Veterinary Hospital (http://www.petcarevb.com/) in Virginia Beach, which is only about 15 minutes from me. I...

    Digby is very territorial

Well, I've had Digby several weeks now and he is definitely warming up to my husband and I. When we get him out to socialize at night, he runs around and is pretty friendly. However, he still gets really angry when I first pick him up out of his cage. The moment he is actually out of it, he...

    Digby is being a grump

Based on the amout of quills I found today (5-6), I'm guessing he is definitely quilling. My husband gave him a bath, as I know this can help ease their discomfort. He seemed to enjoy it after a while and it was adorable to watch. He's now snuggled in a pouch on the coffee table. Still a little...

    Digby is being a grump

The litter was born on October 12th so that would make him a little more than 2 months.

    Digby is being a grump

I just scooped him up in his hedgie pouch and sat him in his carrier while I washed everything. Didn't seem to move at all, so I guess he's comfortable which is good. Also noticed while I was cleaning that couple of quills had come out, so that may explain why he's not too keen on me right now...

    Digby is being a grump

Brought Digby home last night and I haven't really tried to touch him or anything since we picked him up. Both my husband and I held him at the breeder's house and he seemed cool with it, but I wanted to let him adjust. This morning when I woke up, he was under his mixing bowl igloo all curled...

    Meet Digby!

Well, I finally got my hands on Digby this evening! He was pretty friendly when we (my husband and I) first held him at the breeder's house. Been a little edgy since we got him home and doesn't want to be messed with so I've left him be as far as touching him or anything goes. He's also peed...

    Lets see those cages!

My cage is ready, hedgehog is not Mine doesn't look as exciting as everyone else's, but hopefully my hedgie will like it! Everyone has said that Heavenly Hedgehogs in Portsmouth, VA, is reputable, but she hasn't responded to my last two emails about picking up my hedgehog and I am getting...

Choosing Food for My New Hedgehog

Does the ratio matter? Before I mix all this food together, I'm curious if anyone would recommend a certain ratio of these foods? Or simply equal parts of all three?

Choosing Food for My New Hedgehog

The Chicken Soup and the Buffalo Blue are two of the things the breeder is feeding them currently, mixed with three other foods. Hopefully she'll be giving me a small supply to help transition them.

Choosing Food for My New Hedgehog

So there is a headache-inducing amount of information about what kind of commercial food to feed or not feed a hedgehog. After checking several different sites, I chose the three that seemed to appear most often on all the lists I've looked at. I've decided to go with a mixture of Chicken Soup...

    Hevenly hedgehogs

This is where I'm getting my hedgehog from soon - I just posted in the Anatomy forum about the uncertainty she seemed to have about the sex of the litter. Glad to know someone reliable thinks she's reliable.

Breeder Having Trouble Determing Sex, Apparently

So I'm supposed to be getting my hedgehog in the next couple of weeks and I originally requested a boy. The breeder emailed and said that the recent litter had three boys with no indication that us getting one would be a problem. Yesterday she emailed and asked if we would be ok with a female...

Using Stitch Witch for Cage Liners?

I was just wondering if anyone has any advice about whether or not it would be safe to use stitch witch or a similar product to make cage liners and hedgie bags? I don't have a sewing machine and I don't have to money for what people charge to make them, so I thought maybe this would be an...
