    Cage and supplies for sale

Our chin died in an accident outside his cage and we are getting rid of it and all of our toys, supplies and treats. It has a wheel that I paid a good deal of money for. The cage is selling for $135 on Amazon, ours is five years old and needs a good power wash. Located in central jersey near New...

    Going on vacation

Hi all, We have a single chin, Thaddeus, and I was wondering what you think about vacation. We have two 10+ day trips coming up in the next few months. We have left him for a weekend a number of times with enough food and water and he's been fine. We will be having friends stop by to check on...

Suddenly spraying after months of potty trained

Hi - Perhaps I got off too easy with Thaddeus, but he almost immediately took to peeing in his litter pan when we put it in his cage after switching to fleece a few months ago. We moved apartments (literally across the street, it was a very untraumatic experiences as far as moves go) three...

    Safe glue?

Hi - Thaddeus' hideaway house is falling apart and we'd like to glue it. I remember kids in my preschool eating Elmer's glue. Would that be a good non-toxic way to give his hideaway more life? Thanks!

Heart murmur - gets very tired playing - related?

We brought our chin Thaddeus to the vet a few weeks ago and he had a clean bill of health except the vet told me he had a level two heart murmur. She said it was a very normal thing in chins and we would monitor it going forward. I feel like he's sort of a lethargic little guy. He doesn't...

    Depressed chin?

Hi - Just got Thaddeus a few months ago and I've noticed that he doesn't really move around a lot when he's in his cage. When we let him out he goes wild, but the majority of the day (23 hours/day) he's in his cage, kind of moping around. His old wheel was loud and cruddy so we bought him a...

    Fleece cage liners

Hi - I've been looking through the Ferret Nation Club thread and it looks like almost everyone has fleece liners for the bottom of your cages. I'm leaning towards doing that over the bedding - it gets everywhere and cleanup takes so long. Where do I get a few fleece liners? I noticed that...

    Bonding with a new chin

Hi - I just got my 10-month old chinchilla about two weeks ago. He came from a house where his previous owners could pick him up easily but he won't let my husband or I do so. He runs from us and wriggles out of our arms when we've tried to pick him up. Any suggestions on getting him used to...

    Ate a plastic bag

Hello, I had a plastic bag next to my chin's cage that fell within his reach. It's a thicker kind of bag for his hay. He doesn't appear to be pooping, but he's active and eating & drinking. What could a vet do besides surgery? Is there anything I could try at home? Thank you!
