making toys

I am thinking of making some new toys for my chins but didn't know if there was a specific glue that was ok and nontoxic for them or if its better to just cut notches in the wood or use wooden pegs? Thanks!

Elmers school glue or Elmers wood glue is safe and non-toxic

When I have to use glue, I use Elmer's glue and really, "a little dab will do ya".

There are also some wood glues meant for children craft stuff that are non-toxic
