Hedgehogs should be fed a diet low in fat. Baby & even adult cat foods often are too high in fat content. Look for a low fat variety. When fed too high of fat in their diet, hedgehogs can develop fatty liver disease which can kill them.

Kitten vs Cat food... depends on the age and health of your hedgie.

In general, I'd say high quality cat food.

But if hedgie is a baby or otherwise having difficulty eating big pieces, then something like Royal Canin Baby Cat kibble might be helpful. In addition to size, a big difference between kitten and cat foods that I've seen is the amount of fat.

My quilled ones are on adult cat kibbles - "light," "healthy weight," or "indoor cat" versions depending on the brand... particularly for my full-figured lady. Tex gets a little more of the regular kibbles thrown in as he's just a little fella.
