Eating just hay while on antibiotics

Polo was diagnosed with bumble foot about a week ago. The vet gave us some flavored baytril and he gets .4ml a day. He eats the antibiotics no problem but he has stopped eating his pellets. He still eats the same amount of hay but he has barely touched his pellets. I started giving him critical care but now I am wondering if I should just let him fill up on hay and not feed the critical care.
