I don't know if this will help but I found that if I give them hay only at night, they tend to appreciate it more I guess. They eat the stuff they "tossed out" at night the next day, and for some reason they eat more of it than when I was just replacing it morning and night. I also keep an eye...

I use fleece and it works great. You can tile the bottom in place of bedding but I'm not 100% sure on how to go about doing it.

Lowe's or Home Depot should have the kiln-dried pine you need to make the houses and shelves. No craft store wood is good because it's more than likely been treated or stained with something. I use the exact same stuff as Keisha does. I used it all before I introduced my two boys and it worked out fine. Rearranging the cage is another good idea. I either washed all my wood with the vinegar and water and then sanded it when it dried or just put new shelves in.

They sift through what they want and throw what they don't. He probably won't eat the hay in the bedding. You should always supply fresh hay, I replace my boys every night. You could try switching brands, what are you using now?

In the smaller, black one (Feisty Ferret) switch around the wire and pan on the bottom so the pan sits on the wire bottom. I had that cage and did it, the wire spacing is too big for their feet, they can get one stuck.
