I would get out the yellow pages or google vets near you and give them a call and ask if they have experience with chinchillas.

It is not just this store. It seems like almost all the pet stores I go to have very little to no knowledge about chinchillas and how they should be taken care of. The most you can do is try to inform them about the proper way to take care of chins and warn anyone you know that is looking for...

As long as you can take care of them properly I don't think you can put a limit on how many chins you have. We have 8 right now, so we're not judging =)

We thought so too, but after the first week she looked like a standard. Father is pink white, mother is standard. The 1st pic is after she was born, and the second pic is when she was 4 weeks. I'll try to get another pic of her today.
