My chinchilla does that too, but its usually just her sleeping.

I've got a chinchilla and a hedgehog and the chinchilla is definitely harder to take care of. They require a lot more time and energy. That being said, chinchillas usually like human interaction whereas hedgehogs don't really want to be held.
