It is so easy to spoil chinchillas! I don't even want to calculate how much I've spent on them. It's calmed down a bit, but every so often I go on chin spending sprees and spend like $200 on new supplies in a week.

Chris, those are all great retailers to watch. I got my FN on sale on ferrets.com. The only advice I can give is to keep watching for good sales, especially ones that include no or low shipping. If you aren't opposed to buying used, you can also find good deals in the local paper or craigslist.

Gorgeous animal, I did see him. But chinchillas.com does specify their animals are not pets. Im guessing they want their chins to be used as breeders to improve the quality of the mutation. I havent come across any pet quality ones.
