I have the larger chin spin for my 2 boys. They absolutely love it and it's very quiet. We have a small living room and we don't even notice when they're running on it while we're watching TV.
Both of my chins "tell me" when they're done playing. They tend to sit still and look at me waiting to go back to the cage or sprawl out trying to cool down. An hour might be overdoing it if they're new to you. It can vary from animal to animal.

When we first got our little guy an exercise ball was suggested to us by one of the people at PetSmart. I hadn't been introduced to this site yet and I just went with it. Poor little guys ears got all red and he laid down after a few minutes. I knew this was bad mojo and searched for a cause...

Buster would give out his "alarm" squeak when we first got him if anyone was being too active around his cage. After about the first month that stopped and now whenever someone is near the cage he's up looking for attention. Just give it time and don't rush contact as it might spook him more.
This is fantastic. I will likely buy some ledges from whimsy and I stumbled across Twilight Chins page which is absolutely amazing. Thank you for the suggestions.

My buster was doing something similar when I changed my sleep pattern so he wasn't getting 2am playtime. I'd come out talk to him, give him some scratches through the cage when he came to me and he would calm down.
The description of the honking as a little squeeze toy is so perfect.
