Redditor here, I just saw the post and yeah it is very worrisome.

I use a mini shop-vac from lows that was $30. I vacuum daily and it picks EVERYTHING up. I vacuum, then shake it (not much comes out), and then I pop it into the washer. I think it would be fine for you to shake it from the balcony/stair area if you vacuum it first =)

Ohh like animal flippers? I heard about a case like that near where I lived. Unfortunately, it happened to a breeder I know =( She did end up getting the chin back though. Thanks for the warning though! I know it happens a lot on craigslist =/
