I just got my Quality Cage Chinchilla Townhome Starter package in the mail.
This may sound stupid, but I don't know much about putting it together, and how do you put the water bottle together/on the cage?

I attached pictures of the supplies it comes with.

My cage came with directions. Check their website. I didn't get the starter package so I can't help you with the water bottle.

the nozzle part of the water bottle goes through a space between the cage bars, the water bottle itself hangs on the outside of the cage, and that U shaped wire with hooks on the ends holds the water bottle to the side of the cage.

just saw this photo in another thread here, and it sort of shows what i'm talking about. the U shaped wire goes around the water bottle, near the top. i put a blue arrow pointing to the U shaped wire, in case you can't see it.

ah, i wondered what the metal with a hole thing was in Rebecca's photos. chew guard because it's a plastic water bottle....... duh! lol.

The round things in the bag are your extra bearings for the Chin Spin.

As far as the Water Bottle, I could never hang it with the wire that came with it. It wouldn't go around the steel guard. I had to go out and buy a glass water bottle with a Spring and I used the spring from it. I just ordered another Water Bottle from Quality Cages because I added two chins. I ordered the Spring this time from them for $1.50 extra. http://qualitycage.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=129_142_143_151&products_id=1835 Makes putting it on and taking it off the cage a breeze!

I hope so! :)
I also just put together this a wooden hut!

When I got my toys and wood, their was note with the receipt and then a note that said do not store wood in plastic bag, so where should I store it?

i keep all of Rhino and Guss's wood and toy supplies loose in a desk drawer.

as for the colouring on the toys, it's perfectly safe. most chin toy colouration is done with food grade dyes.

Okay, thanks. I will clear a drawer and fill it up :)
I should just take out all of the sticks and twigs from the plastic bag and just pour them into a designated drawer?

Rebecca stop bumping this thread. I know you want answers, but there is nothing in here that is an emergency and it doesn't need bumped when your last post was only 9 minutes old. Give people a chance to read and respond.

exactly what i do. the drawer is a dang mess, lol, but at least i know the wood is good in there!

if you wanted to organize it a bit, you could get one of those cutlery trays and have certain types of wood in each section.

Wow Rebecca, looks like you've got it all covered. :)

No kidding! I wish I did this much preparation for my chin! It definitely would have helped her settle in better. Now you won't have to buy an expensive new cage because you got a flimsy plastic one to begin with (like some of us did...)!! Your money's well spent. With chinchillas living so long, it's better to get pricey but well made stuff to start with.

I put all my chin's wood in jars or a plastic tub. Actually, I kind of have a plastic tub full of jars...whatever works. Why can't wood be kept in plastic? I had no idea!

if the wood isn't dry all the way, it can mold if kept where air can't get to it. all of my wood and toy supplies are perfectly dry, but i store them loose in the desk drawer just in case. i would cry if i got mold on any of my apple wood!
