    Questions

Okay, I've looked up the answer to some of these. I'm still not sure on the type of fleece thing, #1--if they're like chinchillas and need a specific type, or if any will do. It sounds like the type of heater depends on the type of cage, and I suppose I don't need the price quotes so much...

    Questions

Hi guys, There's a possibility I will be getting a hedgehog soon, depending on whether or not my landlord permits me to have one. Anyway, I have a few questions about their care. 1. Is there a specific type of fleece/material that needs to be used as liner, or is any type okay? Would I be...

    A Hard Decision...

Thanks! I'm just not entirely certain how to judge if they're taking care of her very well... My family is the type to say something is "fine" even if the care isn't spectacular. /: But yeah, I think I will keep her. C:

    A Hard Decision...

Good point! Maybe I'll just try to ask my fam during the week how often they're letting her out and such... c:

Introducing a puppy to a chinchilla

My little dog who lives in my room with me is absolutely fine with my chin. The chinchilla was around before her and she's pretty good at leaving other animals alone. Our other dog who doesn't live in my room, though, will bark at my chin. It's actually not at all uncommon for my little dog...

    Holding chinchillas...

It really depends on the individual chinchilla. The ones you've seen were not trained for that or anything, they were just naturally more calm. The majority of chinchillas do not like to be held and would much rather run around, but there are exceptions. I've found that my chin tolerates...

Thinking about new dust bathe house?

I've been using a cardboard shoe box, and I just covered up any holes. (:

    A Hard Decision...

A lot of chins don't get outside cage time and are fine, with or without a wheel, so I wouldn't think she'd have any difficulty adjusting to less free time with a good wheel in her cage. If I do keep her, I'll definitely shell out the cash to get her a wheel. Whenever I for whatever reason...

    A Hard Decision...

Thank you all so much for the replies and advice! Right now I am really super busy with a school assignment due in a few days, so I'll be answering most of the posts after it is finished - probably this weekend. But to answer Godofgods's question, I live in Missouri.

    A Hard Decision...

I'm going to college this fall, and I have to decide what to do with my chinchilla... She is about 6 years old, lives in a Ferret Nation, and has a nasty habit of chewing her fur. Total sweetie, has never sprayed, and I just love her to pieces. I need to decide whether or not to keep her... )...

    Runs on wheel and squeals?

Awww. Oh, man. You shouldn't have mentioned calling it his "battle cry." Now I'm totally picturing a little chinchilla on a wheel running as fast as he can and screaming "Chaaaaaarge!" in a squeaky happy voice. Hahah!

    ChinProofing A Room

Here's what I did for my bedroom: I blocked her from going behind the TV (using a filing box on one side and the shelf from my FN on the other). For the rest of the cords along or next to the wall, I either just unplug them and put them up or I just covered them with some extra fleece lying...

    Abnormal vocalizations?

My chin did that yesterday for the first time in awhile... If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, I think he was just "barking" (that's the correct terminology, right?) for attention. Again, I could be wrong.

    Let's Talk Photography! :)

Oh my goodness, what sweet little babies. <3 I'm slowly trying to find time to edit a few more from that day at the beach, so expect more hopefully soon. (: The closest seagull is a little out of focus, but I like how at-peace they are. Us humans can learn a thing or two from animals on...
