He had his teeth ground down at the vets and they put him on it.
Now that I quit giving him the stuff he seems more like his old self and has been eating pellets and hay on an off all morning.
Update:
I checked on Remi again about an hour later and there are poops! They are small and pitiful but poops all the same. He also ate some pellets of his normal food too.
I found the story on Sparky and thought to check his tummy. It seemed small and squishy to me and he squirmed a lot saying...
I did read on the subject before I asked this question in case I missed something as I know it comes up now and then.
I did notice he drank some water and he did eat the GI trac tablet (specifically for chins) I gave him a few minutes ago.
I was just hoping there was something else out there I...
I took Remi to the vet last Saturday and had his teeth worked on ( he had been drooling). They trimmed his teeth and gave him a Baytril shot. They sent me home with a bottle of the stuff and ordered to give it to him every 12 hours. I have done so and now Remi has become sick. He has stopped...
Not yet as I want to try to reverse it with giving him hay if its possible. I don't have the 800 plus dollars its going to cost to take him to a specialist I was told about. If giving him hay and the critical care doesn't resolve the problem then I will have to figure out how to pay for the...
Back from the vets and the doctor was somewhat competent. She specializes in rabbits and Guinea pigs but she was able to tell it was Remi's back teeth that were the problem. She said some of them were getting points on them. The fronts were fine. Turns out he is not getting enough hay to grind...
found a vet
I found a vet and made an appointment for tomorrow. Have no idea at this point if this vet is competent. I will find out more tomorrow and post their findings. Crossing my fingers its not a major problem.
I tried to get a picture but he wont hold still long enough and it is hidden. I have noticed two other developments. He has started sleeping in a new spot, a place he has never slept before. Also I notice he is drooling. I am starting to suspect his teeth. I just caught him and his teeth look OK...
I noticed today that Remi's fur was missing on his left arm. I am not sure why or if he is in any pain. He doesn't appear to be and his skin does not look angry or red. He obviously pulled it out or licked it off but I don't know why. Any ideas why and how to help him to stop? Or what I can put...
Found a site that you can specifically choose vets that care for chins and found a few in my area:
http://www.yext.com/vets/animals/chinchilla/
You can pick any State though
I looked at your pictures but he doesn't have as much hair in his nether regions and definitely no yellow stuff. he is pretty clean in that area. Just the bulges I felt and visually saw when I checked him. He does hump things a lot though and didn't consider that aspect of him possibly being...
My chin Remi does that too after play time. I think he is warm after playing and lays on his side on the chin chiller for a little while. After that he moves about and then sleeps in his house.
I hope this is the right area to ask.
It pertains to a hair ring check I did on Remi this morning. It had been about three weeks since I checked ( I know I should have checked sooner but he has been clear so far). When I went to check him I found he had bulges under his skin that were on each...
building your own cage
I built my own cage over a few months time as I had to buy and make parts of it as money allowed. It turned out be a great cage and am very happy with it,
Here is the site I used for the build: http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/5102/cageplans1.html
I built a dolly type...
