If you spray it down, do you have to do anything special to the metal tubes to make sure they dry inside completely and not rust, like blow drying them or anything?

Well y'all I finally joined the Ferret Nation club. Petsmart had it on sale & I couldn't pass it up. I can't wait to set it up tomorrow. I really can't wait to have so much space to spoil my little girl even more!! I just have to decide on a cute fleece design/color combo for her.

yay i get to join this group, probably won't post pictures til february due to thats when i'll get my little furbutt :)

This is my new FN 142 cage. I have been so excited to get one and I'm looking to having space to put toys, ledges, everything! Excuse my mis matching fleece. I just grabbed what I had around, cut, and sewed it quick so that I could cover everything.

awwwww, that second photo totally says 'momma? this big ol' cage is really all for me?' lol.

one thing though, remove the ladder or cover it with fleece. the FN ladders are dangerous due to the rungs and spaces between - chins can get their feet and legs stuck.

I don't think she knows what to do with all of the space. Heck, I dont know what to do with all of the space yet! The ladder is covered in fleece. The picture was of when I first got everything in there and hadnt put the cover on yet. But it is covered in a cute pink fleece now. Thanks though :)
& the top pan thing is covered too, its just that its black fleece and you can't really tell.

I understand about the space thing! I just picked my FN up from CL last night and it is sitting in my living room all bare and intimidating! It is so huge!

Yours looks great though!

I bought the hidey house for her when I first got her, it was the biggest one the pet store had. I always called it the "Chinchilla Mansion" because it was so big for her. That was an understatement, this is the REAL Chinchilla Mansion!

is she old enough for a wheel? you could put one in there, lots of kd pine shelves for her to munch and hop on. and of course lots and lots of toys :) also maybe some more fleece items, i'm sure she'd love that :)
i can't wait to get mine, and decorate it. i have two fleece sets that are waiting patiently to be put in the cage. lol if only february were here already.

Not quite old enough for a wheel. I've been sewing like crazy to make the things for her cage, made two hammocks today & a fleece tube cover. Also, the bottom cover of her new cage is scraps sewn together (all seams hidden) with a solid fleece backing. I've got pine wood to make ledges and landings but havent cut it yet.
My boyfriend has Percheron horses which he does weddings, shows, etc with & I've been so busy all summer showing, helping him with weddings, working the horses, school & fitting in playtime with Karleigh in there. I havent had enough time for myself to think let alone sit at a sewing machine..lol Today was my day to put together my cage & make a few things. I'm hoping that we'll slow down here soon so I can make more things & spoil my little girl!

Here's my Ferret Nation...it's almost done, I just have to add more shelves and toys!

Did you make your accessories (shelves, hay box and fleece tube) yourself or did you buy them from someone here? Looking to buy the same things for my FN 182.

Can anyone confirm if the plastic pans are the same size for the 142/182.

I want to buy new fleece covers for my 182, and need to know if all the covers for the 142 on here will work.

If you make the pan covers, hammocks, tubes and other accessories, please hit me up with pricing. I'm looking for either Camouflage or Peace signs.

I do believe they are the same size. From what I understand, the biggest difference with the 142 vs. 182 is that the 142 screws together, the 182 snaps together.

I still have the plastic pans for the 142. The fleece still don't cover the sides on the top shelf where the opening is.
I was thinking if I make one like a pillow case style where I can slip the entire plastic pan in the fleece if that would work.
Does anyone have something like this?

Annieo makes something like that, but it doesn't cover the entire pan. I can't remember where the photo is though.

i have them, its sized so it just fits the plastic pan itself, then i just sit it on the metal part. i was afraid it might be unsteady, but it works out just fine, especially if you have a hidey house or extra food bowl or something on it.
