    Cage 'guard'?

Oh when I said playpen, I meant something small enough that his paws wouldn't fit through. It wouldn't be of much use if his paws could fit Lol.

    Cage 'guard'?

That's essentially that I planned to do with playpen panels, but I wasn't sure if that would be enough. :/

    Cage 'guard'?

I've asked this question before but I haven't really had luck finding something yet. My younger cat is always bothering my chinchilla, to the point where I am unable to give him access to the lower half of his CN(I kept him on one level when he was sick but haven't been able to open it up...

    Apple sticks?

He likes her sticks but he definitely preferred Strattons. Ronda doesn't use flat rate shipping does she?

    Apple sticks?

Where do you order large boxes of apple sticks? Usually I order from Strattons Chins but I haven't received a reply to my emails. Does anyone know if there has been a change to her email or anything?? That's where I've always ordered from so I'd like to get more if I can. If not, I was...

    Covering the cage?

It's a critter nation, I don't see how he would get caught? I bought hardware cloth from tractor supply and only noticed after that there was a lead warning. >.<

    Covering the cage?

I've asked some questions in regards to this in the past but I hadn't had much response so I wanted to try again. Long story short... For the time being one of my cats is sleeping in my bedroom with me, which is where the chinchilla cage is. He usually leaves him alone for the most part, as...

    Hardware cloth?

    Any thoughts?

    Hardware cloth?

I'm just putting it against the cage for an added layer of protection.

    Hardware cloth?

So I bought some 1/2in hardware cloth to cover my cage. The bottom half is empty but since my guy is doing great, I want to give him full access again. Anyway, I need to rig it so the cat can't get at him. He's only in that room at night but he will pest him if he's on the bottom half of the...

Monkey is lethargic and at the vet now

I was taking my guy to work with me so I could be sure he was getting enough feedings. He would get food every 2-4 hours depending on what was going on at the time. I'd get a total of 60-100ml into him a day. He's a rather small chin and I found that with only 60ml he was maintaining weight. If...

    New Chin on Antibiotics

Be careful syringe feeding water... It's easier for them to aspirate with water than it is food. He should get enough hydration from the syringe feeding. I spent months tormenting my guy with meds and feedings... He's back to his normal self and doesn't hate me any less Lol.

    Neutering and weight!

I agree with Amethyst. Neutering does not do anything for them behaviorally, all it does is remove the possibility of them reproducing. If you keep him away from females, there is no pregnancy risk. I know there was a user here who almost lost her chin to infection. The risk does not outweigh...

Help! Introduction of New Chin- going good or bad?

You should never get a second chin if you're not prepared to house them separately forever. Even if they would get along now, they can turn on each other down the road. I don't recommend neutering just to cage him with a female. Neutering is hard on chins, I've heard stories where they have...

Would my chinchilla like a companion?

I attempted to bond mine with another and he ended up hating him. There was clearly no way they could be caged together, even though the other was very sweet. As long as you're willing to house them separately if they don't get along, it's worth a shot.

Lethargic, small feces and apetite lost - Help!

It doesn't matter how active they are, if they're not eating... They can die. I went through months of regular hand feedings/medications with mine and I still almost lost him. Chins can go downhill fast. Get him to a knowledgeable veterinarian ASAP.

    Did oxbow change thier pellets?

I didn't think they changed the pellets, just the bag. I haven't had a problem with mine. I'm not sure what went on with the pellets... They were changing the bag but petsmart took it off their site completely, which they didn't do with the other formulas. Now they're charging the same price for...

    thecatsite.com is a great one. I'm a member there as well. :)

    Cause for concern?

I was just questioning because this is not normal for him, though it may be for other chins. Perhaps he's been drinking more often, I dunno Lol. His are usually exactly like the first row in that photo, never round. If I see a decrease in the number of poos, I might just have a heart attack. :')

    Cause for concern?

Forgot to note... He's had a large supply of extra chews since I did some shopping. Could that be effecting his stool? Everything he has is chin safe.
