Chin Not Eating While in Heat

I’m so sorry you had to let her go 💔 You really did everything you could.

Chin Not Eating While in Heat

She stayed at the vet for two days after surgery then came home. She wasn’t quite as active initially, but she still wanted her playtime, she was eating well and back to herself pretty quickly. I’d say it went well!

Chin Not Eating While in Heat

My girl had open pyrometra when she was 12 and had successful spay surgery. My vet indicated it tends to come back once they have it. If the antibiotics clear her up you will definitely have to keep an eye on her moving forward if that is the case. I hope she’s doing better!

    Chinchilla hair loss

My girl Kiwi somehow broke her tail. I don’t know how she did it, but her tail used to curl over and now it’s just straight. She has some arthritis at the base of her tail and she chews the fur there. She gets Meloxicam every day for the arthritis. I never see her chewing it either, but it...

    Pyometra

My girl had open pyrometra at almost 13 in 2020. She had the spay surgery and stayed at the vet overnight. From what I understand, once they have it it tends to reoccur and that is why they recommend surgery, to avoid having to administer antibiotics each time it reappears.

    CBD candle around chin?

The cbd oil I used did not have any thc in it. I originally got it for myself and decided it didn’t do much for me. When Bella’s mobility decreased, I was willing to try anything since her pain meds helped, but didn’t increase her levels of activity. It was like night and day for her. I...

    CBD candle around chin?

Before my Bella passed away, she had arthritis, and a little cbd oil mixed with her pain meds made a world of difference for her mobility. Cbd does not contain any thc, unless the product says it does. Don’t rule it out. Burning a candle is different, they will release some carcinogens...

    Veterinary costs reality check

That is very high. I take my girl in about every six months to get points filed down and it’s usually @$250. X-ray would be about another $2-250. I go to an exotics only vet.

    Discharge... Again!

If you suspect she has an infection such as pyrometra, a vet visit should be planned. My girl just turned 13 and had open pyometra in June of last year. She had spay surgery, because in my vets experience once they get it it keeps coming back, so antibiotics are usually a temporary fix.

Old girl doesn't jump like she used to 🥺

It’s very possible that arthritis has set in. My girl who recently passed at 17 had arthritis, and I had to move shelves closer and built her a ramp to get in and out of her cage for playtime. She could no longer jump on the stool she used to get in and out of her cage.

    Chin behaviour changes with age?

Both my girls definitely slowed by the time they were 10. My elder girl, Bella, passed this year at approx. 17 and had arthritis for at least the last year of her life, possibly longer and she was able to hide it. Neither of my girls has wall surfed in ages. Kiwi, is 12 now and comes out of...

    Arthritis in Chin leg?

My girl Bella had arthritis in her hips and it got harder for her to move around her cage. My vet put her on cosequin (glucosamine) powder that I was supposed to put on her food, but that was difficult to monitor and make sure she got the right amount. So I ended up mixing it with gas drops in...

Possible tooth worry, not eating hay/chewing, slow eating/drooling

It very likely is teeth related, but could be molar points, and not root growth. You will need a vet visit to find out. That is around the age both of mine started developing teeth issues too.

Points, Spurs, and even occlusal surface

Follow up: for the first few years I after I started this thread, I had to get her molars trimmed about every six months. Last year there was some root elongation, but the vet said we could continue with her trims for now. At one point she did go back to eating hay for about a year and a...

    Likely teeth problems with chin

Could be that her eye is watering some, and when it dries the fur looks less full. That’s usually an indication that my girls teeth are bothering them and they usually have molar spurs to be trimmed.

    Likely teeth problems with chin

Both of my chins have teeth issues now, but previously pulled fake outs like this with me during times when I had been busy and not spending enough time with them. I babied them, handed them pellets and hay, piece by piece, and eventually they were back on track. Have you spent less time than...

    What's new?

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m lucky that I don’t have to fight Bella to eat, she willingly eats off a spoon, but I’m not happy that I have to feed her. I wish she could have lived her whole life eating her hay. I hope I didn’t do anything to cause or exacerbate this condition.
