    Home made cage ?

There are different types of panels - the thick particle board ones (HEAVY) - these are structural. Then there are the 1/8 inch ones that are also melamine covered - typically used in shower installations - that are very light and need some structural support. IMHO no one should be using that...

    Home made cage ?

If you want to build an enclosed cage (I love them myself) you want to avoid the melamine covered particle board. HEAVY stuff, hard to work with. Instead, I build a wood frame and line it with the melamine panels (1/8" thick). You might have to look for them, but they should have them at Lowes...

    building my own cage?

You'll almost certainly want to build a wood frame, as working with stiff (high gauge?) wire takes specialized tools to work with. It's much easier to customize with a wood frame - probably with tools you already have. The only disadvantage is that the wood probably has a shorter lifespan...

To All NJ chinchilla breeders and owners and rescuers

I doubt that chinchilla owners are paying for that... and I be surprised if they ever come after us... too many true exotics out there.

Well, if the 20 somethings and owners of a few chins think they're experts, so be it!

Need chin pics & links for website

The "filters" most people use doesn't remove parasites anyway - so it's a false sense of security. We all build up a resistance over time to many things. Uhhh.... what do you think I was talking about? You're TRAINING your chinchilla when you bring them home. And I guess you don't see smoosh...

Need chin pics & links for website

Let's see, I know several large breeders who feed alfalfa daily and exclusively. I've never scene an article about poor health effects associated with alfalfa. Tap water may be fine - you just have to test it. Fresh water daily is unneccesary. Let's see, even Shoots says you can use raisins...

Has this been in place for years? I've never heard of them going after chin owners.

    Looking to exchange links

Yup, chins-n-hedgies is doing great - nice to have captured much of the CnH audience! That's why you moved up so fast. One of the critical SEO strategies, though, is outside links to your page. So even if you've got a link from here, that's not enough! You need many quality links. That's...

    Looking to exchange links

I'm looking to exchange links with other chinchilla breeders. I'd like to create an updated resource for finding a breeder, so if you are interested in some traffic, let me know. My website is in the top 2,000,000 and has been climbing every month. (I know that sounds high, but check your...

    Chinchilla Insurance

Giant waste of money - as is most pet insurance. Most chins will never need to visit a visit a vet, so save the money.

    elmer's SCHOOL glue

It's not so much the amount as the pressure you apply afterwards. A light coat should be fine, but clamp it.

    My chinchilla Hotel

While there is formaldehyde free plywood it's hard to come by and not something you'll probably find at you local lumberyard. I'm avoiding plywood in my house, let alone my cages.

    Warning to NJ breeders

He's an idiot. We only need to register if we wholesale, and not with NJ. And never individual chinchillas.
