The babies are a week old now and doing wonderfully! As of yesterday Liberty has gained 24 grams since birth an Patriot has gained 28 grams. I am very confused on their coloring though. Their mother is a pink white and the father is an ebony. He looked kind of dark but I just saw him quickly...
Encourage her to get a pair. Rats are very social creatures and truly need a companion. I've kept rats for years. Single ats are lonely and can be more shy and less friendly, even aggressive. Imagine if you were only allowed contact with your rat ever. You would miss your own species as well...
Patriot has gained 4 grams and is now at 60 grams and Liberty gained 2 grams today and is now at 56grams. So they've both gained 10 grams since their birth on Thursday!

I believe she is a first time Mom. Her previous owner said the boy had one kit before, but he belongs to her friend. So I do not believe she has. She is a very good mom. Always coming when one of her babies squeaks or is away for too long. They are always under her.
