Thanks guys, I feed them oxbow chinchilla pellets, an organic supplement and organic hay with herbs from Fuzzies Kingdom... They have a massive cage with 6 shelves a couch a bed and a hut with tile flooring and an abundance of chew toys. I'm curious more along the lines of making their food...
I would like to know what the HEALTHIEST and best diet is for my chins... even if it means that I make it myself with all the best ingredients.... please let me know your opinions and if you have any recipes and such to share!!!!
Thanks! I have (on occasion) given them an organic rolled oat as a treat, as I like to feed my chins the way I eat:) I was just curious about the other dried grains that I have purchased at Whole Foods, thanks for the input!
Hello Everyone!
I am wondering if there are any dried grains (such as quinoa, couscous, lentils, split peas, etc.) that are acceptable, or even healthy for my chins to eat? perhaps flax?
Let me know your thoughts!
I'd have to say the "dumbest" (more of a hilarious and intentional) thing my chin has ever done was jumping directly on to my face while i was pulling tape off the box she wanted to chew on! She must've been upset that I was invading her play territory.
I would say chins are more high-maintenance. Both require lots of poop picking-up. Hedgies are typically loners, where as chins will use you as their jungle gym. Chins also require A LOT of attention during play time due to their incessant chewing habits, whereas hedgies do not chew nearly as...
I (personally) don't like hay :P however, my chins went absolutely bonkers over the sample that fuzzies kingdom sent me with their supplement! Unfortunately, last I checked they won;t have any more available until September...
Typically, I let my chins out 2 times a day, about an hour each time. Despite their 37.5 square foot cage, I find it necessary to let them out as frequently as possible... can you imagine having that much energy and being stuck in a cage all day and night? I also find that doing this promotes...
It is my personal belief that with every chin, this will play out differently. I started with cage next to a cage, and gradually let them spend playtime together each day. Don't get me wrong, at first Sidd would chase Maya who would then fur-slip and that would be the end of playtime. They...
I started out with what I assume was a rat cage(?) that the pet store recommended... however, I quickly upgraded to a Martin's Cage that has a base of 2 1/2' x 3' and is 5' tall... The chins love it! I covered some of the levels with tile so they do not hurt their feet. I even sew them things...
I'm 18 and I got my first chin (saved her from a pet store!) when I was 17, and a few months later I adopted my second chin from an animal rescue... I'd be happy to have chins for the rest of my life! Perhaps another hedgie too:)
