I would for sure go with a breeder. That being said, check them out first! Talk to them on the phone, or better yet, visit. With a breeder you'll get a pedigree, knowledge and possibly a health guarantee.

Good for you for continuing to bring it up to PetSmart corporate. I firmly believe that they shouldn't sell animals that the vets aren't prepared to care for.

We originally got Baby 10 years ago from Ann's Chinchilla Ranch as a companion to our existing female and she quickly became our favorite. She was the sweetest thing - loved attention and "popcorning". We will miss everything about her. She passed away last night from kidney failure.
