Does anyone have any experience with aquatic turtles that would like to help me out? I acquired two while in Florida, and they were given to me in a small plastic case with only rocks at the bottom. I'm totally aware that is not a perfect habitat for them, and plan to set up a nice tank for them when I get home on Saturday.

I am going to get a 20 gallon long tank to start with them - right now they are about the size of a silver dollar - and I know I want to do a canister filter. I also know they need lighting and a seperate basking light.

Recommendations on filters, substrates (I was thinking large gravel), food, treats and lights are appreciated!!

Austin's Turtle Page always has good info

And the turtle forum is a great forum for getting ideas and help with turtles

I've cared for Red Eared Sliders and Painted Turtles, but none that young. With being so young, making sure they get enough vitamins is going to be essential so that their shells grow correctly. So plenty of sunlight or light for Vitamin D is also essential.

ATP has quite a bit of info for general turtle care which will work for your turtles as well. When they get larger, they are going to need quite a bit bigger of a tank.
