and one of these wheels

As everyone knows, and I know. These are both unsafe wheels for chinchillas. Unfortunately, they need a wheel. I don't enough money right now to order a chin-spin. SO, should I just put neither wheel in till I can afford one?

The Run on Wheel, scares the crap out of me because it's . . .like my chinchillas are running in a fan of death. Then the other one is plastic. . .which is also poisonous

Any advice?

Have you looked on craigslist for a used Chin spin or flying saucer? Also chinchillas.com has wheels for $50.00 plus shipping.

If you let your chinchillas out every day for a hour or more then they really can go a bit with out a wheel. I recommend letting them go with out for a while it is better then finding a dead chin or one hurt badly. That can cost Way more then a chin spin :)

i agree with the others that have said having no wheel isn't going to hurt your chins. my Rhino has been without a wheel since he came here, and he gets out almost every night and has a large cage to bounce around in. when i got him, he came with that exact same wire wheel (your first link) and it's been sitting in a box in the storage room since!

Hello everyone! Thanks for the advice!

I removed the wheel and made it into a "Hay" play area. So there is so much hay for them to eat in a fun way. Also put some chew blocks there. They seem to be liking it. I think you guys are right, because the cage is so big. ..they should be okay. I also let them out almost every night. And they seem to be quiet happy.
