what food are safe for chins?

ok so I want to give my chinchilla foods from my house but I don't want to give them something that will make them sick, so I want to know what foods chins can and can't have.Thanks!

You can find many answers to your questions by using the Search function near the top of the page or reading the FAQs.

To answer this question, a chin only needs pellets, hay, and filtered water. Anything else is not necessary. Safe treats can be given sparingly (no more than one a day) and some examples include a rosehip, a pinch of old fashioned oats, an unsweetened shredded mini wheat or Cheerio, or safe wood chews. Fresh or dried fruits and vegetables are not necessary nor recommended.
