Well this is a first for me...

I found this add when I was browsing around on Craigslist. They are offering degus for sale and saying they are (mini chinchillas). I have never heard of them referred to as that. Anyone else ever heard of that or is this just someone trying to make their animals sound more exotic? lol. Either way I got a kick out of it.

They're the closest relative of the chinchilla (I'm pretty sure), but I can't say I've ever heard them called mini chinchillas. I used to have degus (and I have chins) - very different personalities, very different animals. Not bad, but other than being genetically related, I wouldn't consider them "mini chinchillas."

I have seen them listed as mini chinchillas in states that Dagus are illegal in......
