sub for Oat hay

I've read that chins should have timothy hay and oat hay.. is there a good sub for oat hay? I can only find oat hay in small bags

They don't *have* to have any other hay than timothy hay. Oat hay is really grainy, and most other hays aren't. 1st cut timothy is really course so you could use that. Other hays are mountain grass, botanical, blue grass.

I do feed oat hay on occasion so for me, it's okay that it only comes in a small bag since I don't feed a lot of it.

If you are looking for another type of coarse grain hay, there is also wheat and barley.

The most important thing for chins to have is grass hay though (timothy, orchard grass, meadow hay, mountain grass, brome).

Okay thanks . I was just feeding oat because I thought I remembered someone saying its good for their teeth... maybe I was wrong though lol
