I wanted to make a "natural" branch perch in the cage for my chins and was wondering, is crepe myrtle wood chin safe? We have several trees on our property and none are treated with pesticide.

I know it's safe for my keets & parrots, but wondered if I could use it in the chin cage? If so, how would I properly prepare it?

"General" rule of thumb is if it's safe for a bird, it's safe for a chin. I do tend to stick more with what's on that list though as I know those are safe.

well the list indicatees myrtle isn't chin safe...I don't know about crepe myrtle - but I won't chance it...

now I am not sure - Peggy - you said general rule of thumb is if its safe for birds, its safe for chins.
These lists show it IS safe and also indicates Crape Myrtle is not the same as Myrtle. I'm confused.
