Got a call from a non-local dog rescue. They got a chin in. Had a fecal run, and only thing noted was "rare, non-budding yeast" listed as precautions.

They have the room and funding to keep this chin until its adoption, however they are wondering what the yeast could be, where it came from, and if it could potentially be harmful to the chin or any of the dogs in their circulation. Promised I would ask here.

I will ask. I know their vet sends fecals out though, so I may not have any luck finding that out.

Yeast turns up from time to time in fecals of dogs and cats. Usually never treated unless there is diarrhea. Yeast can occur listed as a psedoparasite but never really seems to have any bad effects and why it is there is not really know. Could be diet or environmental. This all applies to dogs and cats and I am not sure what it means for a Chin.
