I have two chinchillas that are brothers and during playtime Kirby always chase Ariel. There's fur flying around from Ariel and I have to put Kirby back in the cage and wait til Ariel time is up. But when there back together in the cage they seem fine with each other. :hmm: I never had this problem with them before and I hope they can have playtime together still. Should I start separating them for playtime?

Fur flying is never a good thing. I'm surprised no one has commented on this yet and honestly I don't really have an answer for you except to keep a very close eye on them. Sometimes my boys do get overly excited when out for playtime and do chase and it's like the dominant one just wants to remind the less dominant one who is in charge. Yet when they're back in their cage they are grooming and snuggling perfectly content with each other. I hope others have more input than I.

I have the same problem with my two brothers as well- this has never been a problem until about a month ago. I have no fur flying but they do chase. I'm sorry I have no advice for you because I don't know what to do myself, but I'm curious for a solution too.

I would say let them have playtime, with you sternly watching. If there is fur flying separate them, don't put them in the same cage. I'm not really sure, but maybe for a day keep them separated, i just wouldn't want to see one turn on the other and then the next day you have a dead chinny.(if you have another cage of course.) That would be my suggestion. But maybe its just a little bit of dominance. You saying a little bit of fur sounds to me that it wasn't fighting just dominance.
