My boyfriend's dog only likes soft toys, but he tears them apart in minutes. I went to Petco, and someone suggested the Fire Hose Squeak & Fetch (http://www.amazon.com/Fire-Hose-Squeak-Fetch-Dog/dp/B0009YHRRQ).

It's made out of a fire hose material so it's really durable. After I got it, I read that some people only had it for 10 minutes before it was destroyed...so maybe it's not for the extreme chewer. Riggs is a pit/lab mix according to the pound though, and this toy has lasted 3 days!

I have thoese Fire hose toys for my two border collies and they didnt even last 20 mins and it was in pieces. they have had tons of them over the years and none make it very long . Oh well its entertaining to watch them "kill" it.

The best toy I found for our extreme chewer (she destroyed a plastic frisbee in 14 seconds, a tennis ball in a minute-five, and a hard black Kong in 3 hours - we timed her) was a plastic pop bottle enclosed in a layer of canvas. The bottle has something inside that makes a noise when the dog shakes it. I got it for about $15 at PJs Pets in Edmonton here, and Taz received in on Christmas morning. It's one of her favorite toys and she plays with it every single day, from whipping it around and smacking herself, to playing tug o-war with it. To date, the most damage is that the canvas handle is about half ripped off on one side. The bottle has been crushed, but otherwise... it's good as new.

I can't find a picture, but it's black with orange trim and an orange handle. It's a rounded rectangle shape.

Has anyone ever tried the Tuffies brand stuffed dog toys?
Heres a crab one, but they have different animal shapes

They're supposed to be really durable but they're expensive so I've never wanted to try them.

For my dog, the stuffed toy that lasts the longest is actually Ty stuffed animals. The ones that don't have any eyes, they're embroidered on. I'm not sure what they were called, but they're like this dog

We always pick them up at Goodwill for $1 or $2 and they last quite a while. When Lila had them by herself they lasted forever, but now that her and Maka tug on them they don't last quite as long, but they last longer than any dog toy we've had. The ones without big ears or long tails last the longest.
