I'm moving things around in my room so we can move rory in. I have to elevate a 4 leg glass desk over 4in inches. Using brick would make me feel safer. I read that you can freeze bricks and put them in the cage if they are having heat stroke. He wont be around it often.

I'm not sure I would use a brick to cool a chinchilla's body temperature. Most people use marble, granite or tile slabs. You can also use a lead free clay pot.

I have a brick in my boys cage, it helps keep their nails trimmed and they love laying on it to cool off. I scrubbed it and then baked it on 200F until it was dry before I put it in the cage, just to make sure it was nice and clean.

Keep in mind that brick is a porous material. This makes it harder to clean thoroughly since the urine can soak into the brick and it is hard to get the urine out.
