Rescue with eye injury was prescribed flurbiprophen yesterday.

He shrieks when its given. Does this medication burn? I only ask because he also shrieks when he sees the burrito towel. And when I bag balm his dry toes. And when the cage door opens.........could go on and on :)

If it does burn, I would see about getting a numbing drop beforehand.

Why is your vet using an NSAID eye drop?

flurbiprofen - ophthalmic, Ocufen (cont.)

SIDE EFFECTS: Stinging/burning of the eyes for 1 to 2 minutes may occur when you apply this medication.

Ah. Thank you.

The chin in question injured his eye when he got stuck in a cage. There is no infection, but there is a good deal of swelling and white blood cells around the injured area. Corneal scraping/abrasion. He re-stained the eye again yesterday and took him off the neo/poly/bac/hc ointment and we are trying this. This chin has been through a course of tobramycin too.

Added: For the first time in a long time the redness and swelling has gone down. I think maybe I will call and get a numbing drop though...
