Do chinchillas need a salt wheel to lick on?

I am wondering if chinchillas need a salt wheel to lick on? Or, if they should not have salt. Im not sure if they are suppose to have a salt wheel in their cage at all times.

NO they don't need a salt wheel.

No. Lots of safe wood to chew on, maybe a cuttle bone if they haven't had the best start and are low on calcium, but not salt or mineral licks. A good diet and wood to chew are the necessities.

No salt wheel, no cuttle bone if your chin is boy--high calcium can lead to kidney stone issues in male chins.

I agree NO salt wheel or cuttle bone unless you have a nursing mom
