Chocolate vs Brown

I have only ever had albino hedgies.

I recently had the opportunity to purchase two beautiful babies from a member here, and theyre wonderful.

Im having a hard time trying to distinguish my little boy's color. I know its either chocolate or brown....but which one I cant tell.

I dont want to register him incorrectly.

I am absolutely horrible at colours but I have found this reference very helpful. Take a look through and see if by process of elimination you can determine which closest represents your hog.

I think I see pale blue sclera......which would make him a brown.
But I also think I see dorsal color of chocolate.....


Pedigree doesnt help because both colors are close to the surface.

I should add that hes only three months old.

Are there any rammifications if I identify him incorrectly with the registry?

Send an email with an image attached to the registry. The registrar there can help you identify the color and register him correctly. You can also post an image here, I may be able to help with color. I'm not an expert, but I can usually tell the difference in brown and chocolate.
